How to fix slow charging on Android

Well anyone who owns an Android could face this problem, be it old or new. But probably you can catch some signs that your phone is starting to act a little messy while charging. And this could be due to various reasons.

And even if you catch hold of some slow charging signs, you may not actually know how to fix it up. So here is where we can help you out.

The very first thing that we blame for slow charging is the USB cable. And much like it, most of the times the problem comes with the USB cable.

But if you didn’t know, there could be many other problems that your Android smartphone might be going through which has landed it into slow charging issues.

So here is a list of all the things that could be a reason behind your phone’s slow charging issues. And tagged along with that is the solution for the same.

How to fix slow charging on Android

1. Bad cable:

Like I said earlier, the very first and obvious culprit behind your phone’s slow charging could be the cable. And it’s pretty much obvious that with all the wear and tear for the cable, it is bound to get damaged!

How to avoid: Make sure that you preserve you charger or the accompanied USB cable properly. Dropping, bending or mishandling the same could end up damaging the cable.

2. Having a weal power source:

The source for your phone’s charging is very much responsible for the speed of charging. Charging your phone from you PC or laptop could take a little more longer than from your charger.

The charger that is accompanied with the company is the only weapon that you could use for the perfect and fast charging. Any other company or phone’s charger will not really match with the battery capacity of your particular phone.

How to avoid: Use the original charger given by the company for your particular phone. As much as possible try to plug in with the adapter and charge it.

3. Damaged adapter:

Unlike all the earlier times, companies now give a detachable set of adapted and USB cable which can be used as both data cable and a charger.

So in that case, your adapter could also be responsible behind your phone’s slow charging. And now this could again happen because of mishandling.

How to avoid: Avoid mishandling or rough use with the adapter while plugging in or removing.

4. Using the phone while charging:

You could also be one of the culprit behind your phone’s slow charging. And the most annoying thing that you could do to your phone is using it while it’s still charging. We can understand the emergency calls and such, but the gaming and browsing while charging can be avoided.

Well your phone understands your priority and lets you brag it throughout the day. So you got to give it a little time alone to get charged up (without disturbing it)!

How to avoid: Let the phone charge in peace until its charged to 100%. Try to avoid all the hardcore use of your Android phone while it’s charging.

5. Corroded USB Port:

Yes you heard that right! Even your charger’s USB port is prone to get corroded. Now this is less of your fault since that happens because of humidity. But the worse thing is that if you keeping ignoring the damaged and corroded USB port, you would probably end up giving your phone more serious issues.

How to avoid: Keep your phone’s charger or USB cable away from humidity or odd atmosphere. Dispose off your charger or USB cable if it shows any sign of corrosion.

Word to the wise for battery consumption!

Battery draining is a common problem striking every smartphone user! The more advanced phone you have, the more it has the intake of battery.

Anyone feels it will be more than enough if the battery sustains for at least one full day. Don’t let your phone battery constrain your phone usage. And if you cannot make complete use of your smartphone, thinking of your “battery consumption” then no point owning it. Let go of all the old myths, that your phone battery goes low because of your internet and 3G connection, too many gaming apps etc. Though it is only partly true and it can be easily avoided with just a few settings here and there.

If you are looking for something that can guide and help you cut down your battery consumption, then you are at the right place. Read on to find out the tips and tricks to save your battery power.

1. Where is the battery power used the most?

To solve any problem it is very important to know the root cause behind it. Do the same with your phone. Go to Settings>Battery. You will see apps listed according their battery usage, from apps consuming the most battery to the least. Check and organize the apps that consume the maximum battery power and uninstall the apps if not needed.

2. Keep your accounts’ refreshing frequency to manual:

You may have number of accounts logged in your phone, increase the refresh time internal to two hours or so in case you have it scheduled to refresh after every 15 or 30 minutes. And also keep your ‘Push messages’ settings to ‘Manual’ this will save your battery consumption to a large extent.

3. Close background running apps:

There are many apps which would keeping running in the background even after you close it. You can check and close such apps by going to Settings>Apps, and then swipe to the left. You will see list of apps that will be running in the background. Tap on each of them to close.

4. Keep you home screen clean and with only the needed widgets:

Even if you have widgets or apps in your home screen that are not being used they still eat you battery. Yes of course you love that live wallpaper of yours but keep only those you really use.

5. Keep your apps updated:

The apps you download, constantly receive updates to save the battery consumption. Make sure you download the updates. Even if your phone is saved with automatic-updates, some apps still require manual updates. You can update those apps by going to the store or marketplace your phone supports, and tap the ‘Updates’ soft-button.

6. Signal strength matters:

You phone makes a lot of effort to search for network when it is not in coverage area, which in turn cuts down your battery power. Yes! You can do nothing about it if you are not catching network, but you can switch your phone to ‘Airplane mode’ so that it does not search for network.

7. Keep your display brightness maintained:

Make sure your phone is not in ‘Automatic brightness’ mode. The display brightness consumes the maximum power of your battery. Auto-brightness sounds and looks cool on your phone but gives way to bright display than needed, might as well manually set your display brightness as much needed. Keep you display sleep time according to your usage.

8. Use power saving mode:

Different phones come with different power saving modes. You can optimize many settings in your phone and save it as power saving mode. There are various apps available that further facilitate with different modes of saving.

9. Turn off the unwanted functions in the notification bar:

No doubt you do use your data connection 24 x 7, but not when you are sleeping right? Make sure your Data connection, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are turned off when not in use.

10. Remove ‘Vibration’ mode when not needed:

This is definitely more convenient than just the ringing of the phone, but it consumes more battery compared to when the phone is in ‘only ringing’ mode.

These tips seem very little to do in your phone, but they work major difference to your battery and its consumption. We hope these tips will help you save your battery consumption and give it a longer life!
